outside the box

Always thinking outside the box…one of many reasons as to why I love them SO much. Bring on the graveyard circus…

You can see their past awesomeness here and here.

This post has been sitting on my computer for a few days now. I have been at a loss of words to fully describe the one friend who has been with me since birth. We were born and raised as next door neighbors and have been best friends ever since. We played Barbies together, rode bikes together, played soccer together. We did everything together. There are many times when our separate lives in separate states are very busy and we don’t talk. But, it doesn’t matter, because when we are together and when we do talk, it’s like we were never apart. I am blessed and extremely grateful for her love, support, and friendship through the years.

And THEN you add Bryan to the mix. Bryan and I were good friends before the two of them decided to fall in love, get married, and give the world four beautiful babies. So, I get a double bonus in this relationship and I love the entire famdamily dearly!!!!

These were taken while we were visiting in Utah this summer. Just an evening on the lake, hanging with my besties, and their pretty red boat :)

happy halloween!

Happy Halloween from yours truly and one of my most favorite families in my photography world.  Yes, you’ve seen them before…lots-0-times on my blog.  We have a sort of photography love affair type relationship :)

tonnies…carnival style

October 20, 2011

Lots of fun and color from one of my very favorite families to brighten up your dreary, Michigan day…

Love their outfits!  Perfect for our carnival style theme…

So many favorites from this session, but this one is super fab.  Rock it Sharon :)

Love you in this one, Sharon…

Another fave…

i inspire myself?

August 17, 2011

Is it weird that these images inspire me? Not because I think my images are awesome, sillies, but because of what this family allows me to do every time I photograph them. I photograph them knowing that I have complete freedom and support to capture them in the world as I see it.

I get it. My view point is sometimes a little distorted. Sometimes my images chop off tops of heads and cut limbs in half. Sometimes I post images that are out of focus. Sometimes I make Dad’s do weird things, like jump off canoes.

Sometimes I hold back for fear that people or clients won’t accept my style and I teeter on the side of Traditional Jean rather than Free Jean. But, I love these images because they are ME. They tell the story of this wonderful family that I am secretly thinking would be really fun to hang out with. They are THAT cool. Thank you, M family, for showing up with your cool clothes, awesome personalities, canoe and accessories, and most of all, for accepting and encouraging me to photograph you in my style…even though you have never said a word and didn’t even know it.

After almost five weeks of traveling, I am back.  Back to the real world and back to blogging.  And back to share with you tons-o beautiful red hair,  sass, smiles, color, fabulous location, and just an all around amazing time with this gorgeous little family…

baked goods

November 30, 2010

I strongly feel that using props/accessories or themes that describe a family or individual are the best (and most fun) way to bring out personalities and relationships. These images make me so happy…just to see the love and fun between the family members. Dang it, I want pictures of my family preparing baked goods!

where do i begin…

October 1, 2010

…on how much i adore this family.  If you haven’t noticed, they tend to show up frequently on my blog and website…most recently here and yep, at the top of my blog.  So hip, so cool, so outside-of-the-box, and oh, so much fun to photograph.

i’m alive

July 29, 2010

I am alive and kicking…contrary to what my quiet blog may lead you to believe.  I have been in and out of town for the last three weeks and have now sufficiently been blessed with lots of rest and relaxation, my wonderful family, and amazing friends.

Back in the real world, I am a bit behind.  So I shall be having a blog posting frenzy over the next little while.  First up is an amazing, wonderful, beautiful family that I have had the pleasure of photographing many times over the last three years.  Their summery images just make me smile.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited to shoot their wedding in August.  These two are beautiful and amazing.  Nuff said. They rock.

Thanks to the Chocolate Bar Cafe in Grosse Point Woods for letting us use their ADORABLE shop.

And moving on to the Hunt Club where Lucy the horse made her modeling debut.

And last, many thanks to Da Edoardo Ristorante and Trattoria for the use of their beautiful restaurant.
