Right after the most amazing weekend at the Chic Retreat, I met up with Heidi and her family for an awesome shoot in downtown Seattle. IN love with this family. And IN love with Seattle.

May 13, 2013whizzing and stuff
April 11, 2013The reality of time whizzing by at warp speeds smacks me right in the face whenever I go to photograph a six month session. I mean, seriously people, I was JUST at their house photographing their newborn session last week. Or maybe it was last September. Where. Did. Six. Months. Go?
As I ponder ways to slow time, or, rather enjoy and utilize the precious time I have, enjoy some images of one of my favorite family’s six month session…

March 6, 2013At the beginning of 2013, some serious awesome goals were made. One of them was going through and organizing, sorting, and backing up FIVE YEARS worth of our family’s images. While going through the images, I came upon these from last summer, and knew I HAD to share. One, because I am crazy homesick for summer, and two, because, well, they kinda ooze happiness and we all need a little of that right now.
This is who we affectionately call Ro-Ro…

My sweetest little baby…
Rachel (left) came to visit from Texas. Laurel and I spent most of our time convincing her why she should move to Michigan.

The two best of bestest friends in the whole world…

Poor husbands with no pictures. At least I got one…even if they are super far away, turned backward, and half cut off :)

did you know
February 7, 2013Did you know that I am slightly obsessed with newborns? Did you know that I am secretly FOR REALS baby hungry every time I photograph a newborn? Did you know that I need to learn to control that or I’ll have a fifth boy running around my household? And, while we’re on the subject of newborns, did you know that I am part owner of a photography magazine called Mozi Magazine? Our newborn issue was released last month, and you can check it out here. Did you know I apparently have no problem throwing in a shameless plug here and there? Enjoy this sweet babe and his family…

best of 2012…CONTEST!
January 23, 2013This is my time of year to…well…hole up in my house and relax. The thoughts, the ideas, the plans for 2013…they are all a brewin. But, those are for later. Right now, it’s time for a little fun. Time to give stuff away. That’s what happens when I hibernate too much in the winter.
What’s the contest? The contest is easy. Just “like” my Facebook page and then vote for your favorite image from 2012 (both done in the entry form below). I have pulled my favorite image from each of my 2012 shoots and put them on a board on Pinterest. Head over to my “Best of 2012″ board on Pinterest by clicking HERE, find your favorite image, and enter the number of the image below for one entry. You can earn extra entries by completing any of the options below your vote entry.
What’s the prize? Well, that’s the trick. There are a FEW prizes :) There will be two winners and they have their choice of either a mini session with me, or a two hour mentoring session with me (online or in person). ANNNNNND, a third winner will be chosen…the image that receives the most votes. So, if you were photographed by me in 2012, get your friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, and dog to vote for your chance to win one of the two prizes above!
So, yes, THREE prizes are up for grabs!
*Contest ends January 30th at 3 pm EST. Winners will be chosen randomly (except image with most votes automatically wins). The more entries and votes, the better chance to win!
*Mini sessions include a 30-45 minute session and 20 images on a disc.
*A session can be won and given to someone else of winner’s choosing.
*All sessions must take place before May 31st, 2013.
GOOD LUCK!!!
scott and caitlin…married
December 18, 2012When we moved to Michigan a little over five years ago and I was just trying to get my business up and going, this was one of the first families I met. They were one of my very first supporters, and have been supporting and spreading the word ever since. Even more lucky for me, they just happen to be amazing and wonderful people and the three daughters are beeeaauuutiful. After sister sessions and high school graduation sessions, we move right into weddings! Big, huge congratulations, Scott and Caitlin…your day was amazing.
Cake - Pastry Palace
Band - Dan Rafferty Band
Caterer – Dearborn Inn, Marriott
Wedding Coordinator – Emerald City
Dress – Bella Bridal
Nothing like starting the day off with a lovely pair of Badgley Mischkas :)

Dancing just happens to run through this family, and she’s got the legs to prove it

Love, love, love.

The three beautiful sisters mentioned previously…

After the ceremony, we headed over to the Henry Ford Estate. WOW, that place was a dream come true.

This bridal party was SO much fun!

Mmmmm, one of my very favorites.

This wedding made me realize that I am kind of obsessed with dead trees. I love the barren, negative space and muted colors…

Oh, hey Dearborn Inn, you made the most BEAUTIFUL reception venue. Thank you for that :)

mom + dad + boy + girl

last good day
November 15, 2012I call this day the last of the good days for 2012. It was last week of October and a beautiful 78 degrees. Summer temps combined with fall surroundings make for one pretty awesome setup. Thanks Hughes family…so fun to play with you again!
Oh, and just in case you were wondering, the temps did drop TWENTY degrees the following day.
Let’s take a moment to pay homage to their awesome fashion sense. And the fact that I got him to hold still for 2.15 seconds for this shot :)
