T-minus 30 days and counting. To what? Just the wedding of two of the coolest people ever! We had a great time tromping around the streets, railroad tracks, and graffiti clad walls of downtown Ann Arbor for their engagement session. Stay tuned for more of these two in a month. ish.

March 31, 2010got talent?
March 29, 2010Tis the last and final week for the Boka Studios free session giveaway. This week, my husband is giving away a free session (including the high resolution files) to a deserving musician, model, band, author, athlete, actor, or anyone else who has a talent and needs or wants some rockin pictures. Head on over to the Boka Studios blog to find out the details on how to win the free session (and to see some of his awesome images of local talent).
Moving on to a sweet, sweet five weeker. I was supposed to photograph her a month or so ago, but turns out she had to have a few surgeries and will have five more in her first year of life. Her mama told me her story and we both shed a tear. I am one lucky girl to cross paths with sweet little angels such as her.

March 26, 2010model shoot
March 25, 2010Have I ever mentioned how much fun it is to shoot models? Pretty girls, pretty clothes, cool locations. I. LOVE. IT. Thanks a million to the beautiful models, Mandy Gutierrez for hair, and Emily Zelenak for makeup. Want more? You can see my hubby’s (Travis) view of the evening over on the Boka Studios blog.
third time around
March 24, 2010Third time around for these guys and I have thoroughly enjoyed myself every single time. What a fun family and adorable kids to work with! Recognize them? They were just on my blog a month or so ago for being the winning image in a contest.
session giveaway and a wedding
March 22, 2010First item of business. We are moving into week 2 of our free session giveaway over on our Boka Studios blog. This week, my husband is giving away a free high school senior session (2010 or 2011 seniors). Are you a senior? You will be a senior? Know a senior? Go get the full details and win yourself a free session!
Second, as my super creative title stated, I have a wedding to share. A beautiful, amazing wedding in an equally beautiful and amazing location. I have never been to the Opera House in Howell, but I was completely in love the moment I stepped into the vintage heaven. Meghan and Josh…thanks for being so fun and a big huge congratulations to the both of you!

March 18, 2010him
March 15, 2010Sometimes I forget how lucky I am. Lucky in so many ways, but mostly lucky to have him.
And by him, I mean Travis. My husband. My best friend.
Back to the lucky (with minimal mushiness). We have always had the same interests and loved doing things together. But, I believe we have found the ultimate. Photography. Together. I never thought in a million years we would be able to do what we are doing now…sharing the same passion and calling it work. We used to talk about it and dream about it, but it wasn’t until the opportunity arose last year, that we just decided to go for it.
Six months ago, we started a partner photography company, Boka Studios. While I have been busy with Jean Smith Photography, he has been heading up Boka, where he photographs high school seniors, weddings, and commercial work. And I’m not going to lie. He is freaking awesome. But, I have given him the warning…if people are saying he is a better photographer than me, then we are in a serious fight. Just keeping it real.
The past six months have been crazy and awesome as we’ve launched this new company. To mark the six month anniversary, we are giving away THREE FREE SESSIONS! You can visit the Boka Studios blog for all of the details.
GOOD LUCK!
In a recent interview, I was asked: What’s one thing that everyone should know about you?
My answer… My husband and I are both super passionate about photography and we have this nerdy dream of being able to travel all around the world photographing people and places. Someday…when the kids get older…and we have lots of money…sigh…
