May 17, 2010winner!
April 16, 2010Note to self. Being subtle and tricky is not one of your strong points. If out of staters who have never even been to Michigan can figure out the city from my collage, then I must rethink how I photograph for guessing games. Geez people, I could have taken pictures of the street light and you would know where it was. Regardless, it’s all in good fun and there were more people to choose a winner from anyway! Oh, and yes, the studio IS in Pontiac. Nice sleuthing skills my friends!
And. The winner.
Is.
Chosen from Random.org.

JESS M!
Congrats! I will email you soon with the details.
Thanks for playing my less than challenging game and I’ll see you all next Monday (SO much eye candy coming next week)!
giveaway
April 14, 2010Going back to Monday’s post, I promised more about a studio and I MIGHT have mentioned a giveaway.
So. The studio. Travis and I do not have our own studio, but are renting studio space in…in…yes, that is our mystery today and leads us to our giveaway. We are super excited about having the studio option and are IN LOVE with the outdoor locations all around the building and surrounding area.
So where is the studio? That, my friends, is the game. Take a look at the collage of images and leave a comment with what city you think it is. If more than one person guesses the correct city, I will randomly draw a name from those people. Sorry out of staters, I’m afraid you might not do so well at guessing.
And the giveaway? The winner will receive a $25 gift card to either iTunes or Amazon (your choice) and a $100 gift certificate to Boka Studios or Jean Smith Photography (again, your choice).
Oh, and the winner will be announced Friday after 10 am…so leave your comment sometime before then!
engagement and drama
March 29, 2010session giveaway and a wedding
March 22, 2010First item of business. We are moving into week 2 of our free session giveaway over on our Boka Studios blog. This week, my husband is giving away a free high school senior session (2010 or 2011 seniors). Are you a senior? You will be a senior? Know a senior? Go get the full details and win yourself a free session!
Second, as my super creative title stated, I have a wedding to share. A beautiful, amazing wedding in an equally beautiful and amazing location. I have never been to the Opera House in Howell, but I was completely in love the moment I stepped into the vintage heaven. Meghan and Josh…thanks for being so fun and a big huge congratulations to the both of you!

him
March 15, 2010Sometimes I forget how lucky I am. Lucky in so many ways, but mostly lucky to have him.
And by him, I mean Travis. My husband. My best friend.
Back to the lucky (with minimal mushiness). We have always had the same interests and loved doing things together. But, I believe we have found the ultimate. Photography. Together. I never thought in a million years we would be able to do what we are doing now…sharing the same passion and calling it work. We used to talk about it and dream about it, but it wasn’t until the opportunity arose last year, that we just decided to go for it.
Six months ago, we started a partner photography company, Boka Studios. While I have been busy with Jean Smith Photography, he has been heading up Boka, where he photographs high school seniors, weddings, and commercial work. And I’m not going to lie. He is freaking awesome. But, I have given him the warning…if people are saying he is a better photographer than me, then we are in a serious fight. Just keeping it real.
The past six months have been crazy and awesome as we’ve launched this new company. To mark the six month anniversary, we are giving away THREE FREE SESSIONS! You can visit the Boka Studios blog for all of the details.
GOOD LUCK!
In a recent interview, I was asked: What’s one thing that everyone should know about you?
My answer… My husband and I are both super passionate about photography and we have this nerdy dream of being able to travel all around the world photographing people and places. Someday…when the kids get older…and we have lots of money…sigh…
hilarious outtakes
March 1, 2010This week over at iheartfaces, the weekly theme is “hilarious outtakes.” i definitely have a few of those, but this one remains one of my favorites.
little: yikes! face plant into my brother’s lap!
big: sweet! lunch break!

oldie but a goodie
February 22, 2010This week over at iheartfaces, the weekly contest theme is hands. My entry is an older image from a couple of years ago, but still remains one of my very favorites. Such a sweet, sweet connection between this little one and her great grandmother.

February 12, 2010Um, wow. WOW.
I am blown away at the amazing response to my contest! Honestly, you ALL rock…every single one of you who particpated…whether you referred or became a fan.
I could ramble on, but I’ll get to the part that you all want to know…the winner!
After all of the sorting and counting and sorting and counting, I put the names in a random name generator (cross my heart and hope to die it was legit…and random). And the winner is…
MARY RENWICK
Yipee!!! Congrats to Mary! Please email me and we’ll chat details.
But, wait! I’m not done. There is a certain someone out there that I am actually SHOCKED that her name didn’t come up…with her 445 names submitted and all. I am so impressed and grateful for her determination and hard work, that I am happy to announce that I have added a second winner for a free mini session. Bonus! And my second winner is….
EMILY EVANS ADAMS!!!
Yippee twice!!! Thanks Emily and please email me for the details.
But, wait! I’m not done…again! I was having so much fun generating random names and feeling so happy about the wonderful people throwing my name all over Facebook and back, that I decided to throw in three more prizes to the next three names that came up. Soooooooo, these three people win a $100 gift certificate to Jean Smith Photography…
Juliann Sleek, Amy Prater Oetjens, and Tamie Bowlby
Thanks again to everyone!
